Deepti
As per this page https://indiahikes.com/documented-trek/nandi-hills-trek-brahmagiri it is mentioned that trekkers need permission. Is this still valid? If yes, does that number work? When I see the location of the DCF office, it says temporarily closed. Thanks in advance
SuhasSaya
Hi Deepti Yes, unfortunately, there can be trouble from the Forest Department if trekkers go without any permit. These days, only the treks mentioned under the Karnataka Eco Tourism can be obtained in an easy manner - https://www.karnatakaecotourism.com/treks/LND3 For treks which are lying under Forest Area, you will have to get special permission by visiting the Forest Office. There are trekkers who might take the risk and go on the trek. But, we have heard of many getting into trouble as well. I have another number of the Forest Office of Chikkaballapur that you can try connecting - 8310251373 Hope this helps.
Deepti
Thanks so much. I'll try the number. Would you recommend any other DIY treks with kids (as young as 6 years) in and around Bangalore?
SuhasSaya
Hi Deepti Oh yes! If you are looking to take 6 year olds, I can suggest a couple of them. Go through these two treks: 1. Kunagalu Betta - https://indiahikes.com/documented-trek/kunagalu-betta-trek 2. Harihara Betta - https://indiahikes.com/documented-trek/harihara-betta-trek These are ideal for kids starting out and going for an adventure 🙂
